Block B member Park Kyung recently tweeted out frustrations with sajaegi, which is honestly not anything new for artists to do, but what made headlines is that he included names in it.
On November 24, Park Kyung wrote on his personal Twitter account, “I want to do sajaegi like Vibe, like Song Ha Ye, like Lim Jae Hyun, like Jeon Sang Keun, like Jang Deok Cheol, and like Hwang In Wook ^^;;”
Spicy!
Then somebody from his company reminded him that even if it was true that’s wouldn’t stop him from getting sued for defamation in Korea, so he deleted it and KQ Entertainment released an apology.
First, we relay our apologies to those whose names were mentioned in our agency artist Park Kyung’s tweet today. Park Kyung was not intending to defame specific people, and he was speaking about the current situation of music charts. If his direct and rash method of expression caused discomfort to those involved, we ask for their kind understanding. His statement was made based on the rumors that were spread across the music industry and without checking the facts. Though he was only posting his own thoughts on his Twitter account, we are apologetic that he mentioned specific names and caused discomfort to those who were mentioned, and we once again ask for their understanding.
Didn’t matter to VIBE and Lim Jae Hyun, who are both taking legal action.
We are informing you of our position regarding the malicious remarks made by a certain artist on November 24, in which he mentioned our agency’s artist Vibe by name. Although we gave the artist in question plenty of time to apologize through his agency, we still have not received a sincere apology, and the controversial statement in question has become accepted as fact. In order to correct this [misconception], we are announcing our plans to respond with strong legal action. Our artist has already suffered irreversible and severe defamation, in addition to psychological pain and suffering. They express their regret that this rumor was spread so carelessly, without any fact-checking or consideration of the consequences. We are also currently gathering evidence regarding the calumny and malicious spreading of false rumors about our agency’s artist that has been going on in the online sphere ever since the remark in question was posted. Should we decide to take legal measures against [such malicious commenters], we will be taking strong legal action without any leniency or negotiation.
We state that the suspicions of sajaegi regarding our artist that were brought forward by Park Kyung on November 24 are completely false.
“Manipulation of charts through sajaegi” is an obvious crime, and we clearly state that the agency and artist have never committed such a crime. We express our regret that Park Kyung publicly committed an act of libel by calling [Lim Jae Hyun] a lawbreaker. We will have him take responsibility for spreading false facts, and we will take strong action through legal measures.
He’s probably gonna face consequences for this legally … but doesn’t mean he was wrong either.
