Boys Planet’s Ollie talks about breaking his fingers & Mnet prioritizing finishing filming instead of medical attention

In a sad way, an Mnet survival show treating contestants like disposable objects to be used for ratings is basically expected nowadays. And so it’ll come as no surprise to you that Boys Planet contestant and Yuehua Entertainment trainee Ollie held a livestream about a week ago where he talked about the time he broke his finger on the show. The topic came up because fans were curious why he was seen with a cast later on.

So basically a 16-year-old broke a bone during filming and was in a lot of pain, but Mnet basically didn’t give a shit, only thinking about not fucking up their filming schedule, and he had to take the initiative to get medical treatment.

I was in so much pain, so I told them, “I’m in a lot of pain, I want to go to the hospital.” They were like, “It’s okay, it’s okay, take a break first and wait until the end of filming.” I told them I have a bone fracture. They said “It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay.” I was in so much pain. My hand felt like they were throbbing, like it was popping dancing. In the end, I said I couldn’t take it anymore and went to the ambulance myself.

Seems callous even for them.

Perhaps the most unnerving thing about it is, unlike the way this was framed on clickbait sites as some kind of expose on Mnet, Ollie basically just casually tells the story as an explanation to fans and moves along. Basically, it is what it is, and that’s how it is in the industry.
