G-Dragon reportedly cleared of drug use charges by police due to lack of evidence

As I’ve been saying in past articles about the issue, the G-Dragon drug scandal quickly transformed into a scandal for police and the media. That trend is certainly solidified today, as G-Dragon will reportedly not be booked by police due to a lack of evidence against him.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency has concluded that G-Dragon did not use illegal drugs and therefore will not hand over his case to the prosecution, Maeil Business Newspaper reported Wednesday.
The 35-year-old K-pop artist, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, tested negative in a series of scrutinized drug tests, and the six witnesses to the case did not provide sufficient evidence to prove the allegations, the report said.
“We are planning on closing the case on Kwon,” a police official was quoted to have said by the Maeil Business Newspaper. “We will have a final conclusion by the end of December.”

Sounds like a matter of formality at this point.

The next step in this is probably watching to see who gets sued, because while investigating allegations is not unreasonable, turning this into a media circus was absolutely their doing and was completely unfair.
