MOMOLAND’s Nancy victimized by doctored pics stemming from molka incident, MLDE will take legal action & AAA apologizes

MOMOLAND’s Nancy is the victim of the most recent molka incident out of Korean entertainment, with the issue recently becoming a trending issue and fans trying to bring awareness to it.

The story going around is that the molka was taken by a staff member while Nancy was changing backstage at an event. From there it was doctored and shared in one place and then the Internet did what the Internet tends to do.

The pervasive issue of molka has unfortunately taken center stage the last couple years in Korea, with the entertainment industry being both victims and perpetrators, and unfortunately this appears to be yet another incident.

MLD Entertainment released a statement on the matter, saying that they will take legal action against those sharing it.

Illegally manipulated photos of Nancy have recently circulated on online and social networking platforms.
Nancy is a victim of having photos being inappropriately taken and manipulated. The person that should be protected first and foremost is Nancy. We ask for your cooperation with a heavy heart.
We will be joined by the police and judicial authorities overseas in taking strong legal action against the first person who posted the photos, as well as those who have taken part in spreading the photos. Through a legal representative, we will also pursue civil and criminal suits for compensation of damages on the basis of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, circulating material deemed pornographic by the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., and violating personal rights.
Nancy is currently undergoing severe emotional turmoil. We sincerely ask of you. We long for an end to malicious posts that harass our artist.
We will continue to make every effort to protect our artists from additional damage through continuous monitoring. We will also follow through with our legal actions with no leniency and without reaching a settlement.
We want to express our gratitude to fans who always love and support our artists. We will continue to do our best in ensuring our artists’ personal and given rights.

So they’re saying the pictures going around were doctored but that the source of those images were acquired without consent.

Note: To the MOMOLAND fans who were e-mailing and messaging me to bring exposure to this terrible situation, sorry but I made the decision to wait until it was addressed in some official capacity cause I didn’t want to Streisand effect it myself. i was not ignoring you or the severity of the situation.

Moreover it was figured out that this happened at the 2019 Asia Artist Awards in Vietnam, and AAA also issued a statement.

Hello, this is the organizing committee for the Asia Artist Awards.
Recently, illegally manipulated photos related to Nancy, who was the MC of the 2019 Asia Artist Awards in Vietnam, have been circulating online and through social media, and we are deeply regretful of that fact.
The organizing committee would like to apologize to Nancy, the victim of such pictures and fabrications.
We will actively cooperate with the Vietnamese and Korean law enforcement authorities to take strict legal action on the person who took the pictures and the people who first spread them.
In addition, we will also work with MLD Entertainment to continue to monitor the situation and work together on both civil and criminal legal action related to any malicious postings to try and prevent further damage.
We are sorry for causing something unpleasant to the fans who love Nancy, and please continue to send her your support.

Nancy herself has since posted to Instagram, not addressing anything in particular, but hopeful a show of sorts not only to let fans know she’s here but also that she won’t back down from whatever the leaker/manipulator is trying to accomplish.

Should go without saying that hopefully she’s able to deal with this going forward and come out on the other side of it fine. My hope at least is that with all the discussion about molka and with the passage of time that things are better for Nancy than they have been for Korean celebs in the past and that there’s more support out there now.
