Quick Reviews: SEVENTEEN’s “Super” puts them in familiar territory

Over the years SEVENTEEN have proven they can handle a wide variety of sounds, both as a group and through their unit and solo releases, and they’ve relatively quietly become one of K-pop’s best selling acts.

New release “Super” is unique in that it’s a rare release of theirs that immediately reminded me of other K-pop groups, mainly BTS‘s “Idol” and at times the Monsta X/ATEEZ hype song print. I’ve never been predisposed to enjoying the posturing dance-focused boy group tracks that’s lacking in melodic and/or hooky moments, especially when it has Teddy-esque momentum stopper in the chorus for a bit, but if the aforementioned styles are up your alley then you should enjoy the mile-a-minute “Super”.
