RBW‘s six-member girl group, PURPLE KISS, kicked off their 2025 HEADWAY Tour in Los Angeles at the Palace Theatre. The group previously performed in the same venue last year as part of their 2024 FESTA Tour, but unfortunately only had five members present at the time. Since this was a reversal of their previous tour, where they started off in the city they ended in, the members were ready to hit the ground running after completing their album promotional performances prior to their departure.
Opening with the crowd rousing song, “My Heart Skip A Beat,” PURPLE KISS was determined to show off their growth since last time. “We usually save this song for last,” said Goeun, as she was catching her breath. Donning girl crush outfits with a mix of black tops and shorts, their cool, polished aesthetic blended well with their energetic kickoff. Excited to see Plorys, they took a moment to speak directly to the crowd before jumping into the upbeat track, “Pretty Psycho.”
After heating up the stage, the six members were ready to give a warm welcome to the audience that came to see them. “We prepared hard and rushed over to come meet you guys. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas,” joked Dosie. Although the six members seemed very eager to continue talking with the crowd, they expressed sadness and delivered a heartfelt speech about the recent LA fires. “We, PURPLE KISS, stand beside you and offer our heartfelt support. We hope that tonight is a source of connection and comfort for you all,” shared Ireh. The crowd returned their feelings with supportive cheers.
As they moved onto their introductions, kicked off by Swan, Yuki commented how it was hard to follow up after Swan since she was so enthralling. Luckily, Los Angeles Plorys could enjoy a full PURPLE KISS lineup with Yuki had to be represented by a cardboard cutout last time. She had responsibilities with EL7Z UP during their first US tour, but now for their second tour, she could playfully show off her chemistry with the other members. While they wrapped up their introductions, the sextet unabashedly flaunted their flirty and fun side.
Continuing onto the hip-hop inspired “BBB” and back to high-energy fan favorites like “Nerdy,” they spiced up the setlist to display their vocal prowess and dancing skills. To keep the crowd engaged, the members would pause in between songs to talk to Plorys and ask them questions. This gave them time to showcase their unique personalities, which felt exceptionally personal in the Palace Theatre’s intimate setting.
In addition to the US stage debut of songs like “Can We Talk Again,” PURPLE KISS explained how they thought through their unit stages in order to impress Plorys. Even though they were likely nervous to be in front of a crowd mostly in English, they easily hid their vulnerability with lighthearted jokes. “We did the English lessons again to prepare for the tour. But I’m so sorry because I think my English got worse,” laughed Dosie. Of course, Plorys shouted back encouragement as she had been speaking English the entire time. In response, she thanked them by doing a curtsy. “On the last lesson before we came to the US, Ireh and I actually didn’t do the homework.” To expose the others, Ireh added, “I heard that all the members didn’t do it.” Yuki spoke up and claimed to be the only one who did do her homework, while the others solemnly admitted their guilt. However, they told Plorys to look forward to their English skills alongside their dancing and singing during their unit stages.
And the three different pairs did not disappoint. Coming back onstage with new lacey, red and black outfits, Goeun and Ireh led the performances with a powerful cover of Jungkook’s “Standing Next To You.” The duo created their own mic choreography to go along with the original dance. After them came Swan and Yuki who came prepared with a sizzling cover of Ariana Grande’s “Side To Side.” Determined to not be outdone, Yuki created a unique rap in Japanese, emulating the energy and flow of Nicki Minaj’s original version. “I wrote lyrics to show off my confident side,” said Yuki. Each stage had a variety segment for each unit and gave more insight into PURPLE KISS’ artistry and talent. Finishing off the stages with a cover of Sunmi’s “TAIL,” Dosie and Chaein came out guns blazing. All eyes were on them as their confident stage presence captivated the crowd.
Throughout the night, the six members made their performances even more personal with fan interactions, which can only be experienced at a live concert. Time flies when you’re entranced by funny, brilliant musicians. The back-to-back performances of “7HEAVEN” to “Sweet Juice” felt effortless and intense, leaving both the members and Plorys primed like a powder keg ahead of the songs in the HEADWAY album. Strategically saving their newest tracks for last, PURPLE KISS impressed the audience as they effortlessly delivered intense choreography for the album’s lead single, “ON MY BIKE.”
Closing out the stop with an emotional encore, their live debut of “Sweet Nightmare” included direct fan engagement. Having changed into their tour shirts and cute character pouches, the six women visited every side of the stage and handed out goodies to lucky fans.
