Fans of VERIVERY member Kangmin have become concerned for the idol after Jellyfish Entertainment announced that in order to promote his solo debut, they would hold an event in which effectively they would raffle off prizes.
The problem? Well, 276 of those lucky winners would get to go on dates with him, including a grand prize winner who would get a one-on-one date, including thematic cosplay.
there’s a limit of how far you can go. kangmin is NOT an object, aren’t you afraid of what’s is going to happen? it’s viewing the artist in a negative way + it’s causing deep concern for us. we don’t want these kind of events.

please reconsider it @jellyfish_ent https://t.co/s83ZK7jqTw pic.twitter.com/mcYu0Z1OT4
Ideally this is just harmless fun for fans, right? But it’s hard to reconcile doing co-signing on things like this with all the creepy incidents that take place with sasaengs and stalkers and what not, as if companies themselves are not constantly encouraging exactly that kind of behavior through this stuff. Like of course the person is at fault, but you can’t pretend those things happen in a vacuum, especially when you’re selling things like this.
Hopefully this isn’t a trend, but after NouerA did something similar at the end of last month, it does feel like things are moving in that direction as some kind of increasingly problematic version of attempting to make the 1000 true fans theory work.
