Former Nine Muses member Ryu Sera is launching a documentary series about her life, called This Is Sera: The Becoming Of A Former K-Pop Idol.
The description on the site for the project sounds intriguing:
This is Sera: The Becoming of a Former K-Pop Idol, is a six episode documentary detailing the life, trials, and tribulations, of former K-Pop idol and musical artist Ryu Sera. The story follows Sera in the present reflecting on her life. From her humble beginnings before becoming an idol, the ups and downs during her time in the K-Pop group 9Muses, her solo career, and more as she goes on a journey of self-rediscovery to figure out what’s next in an uncertain period after music. Can she gain closure on the painful chapters of her past while also opening the door to a more promising future?
It’s a mostly self-funded project — you can donate to support it here — and they say it’ll be pitched to streaming platforms while aiming to be complete by the end of this year for a release next year.
As far as the involvement of other Nine Muses members, they say they haven’t received a response yet. Aside from the whole K-pop angle, I think they would be an interesting get, especially if they explore their relationships with each other.
Anyway, a trailer for the docuseries is already out:
It’s kinda funny. Between Nine Muses Of Star Empire, her idol career, her YouTube channel, streaming on Twitch, and variety show appearances, it at least feels like I already know more about her life than some random dude should. And yet, all of that is probably why I’m interested in this as well.
Asian Junkie Asian pop. Without discretion.
