Minzy speaks about her departure, thanks everybody except YGE and 2NE1

Minzy recently posted a handwritten letter on Instagram, speaking out about her departure from 2NE1 and YG Entertainment. While the letter is personal and emotional, most notable is her complete omission of YG Entertainment and her former 2NE1 members from it.

Hello, this is Minzy.

It is with a sincere heart that I write to you all.

First, I would like to apologize to all those who expressed shock at the news of my departure.

It is after careful consideration and much deliberation that I have decided to pursue a new journey as an artist named Minzy Kong.

Ever since debuting with 2NE1 at the young age of 16, I have been grateful for the wonderful memories I shared with incredible fans worldwide. These experiences were undeniably precious and I take none of them for granted. Thank you all for helping me grow as an artist.

I promise to work even harder to return before you all with an improved and more honest version of myself.

Through a renewed vision and hard work, I hope to reciprocate the love, dedication, and support that you have shown me.
Thank you to all the fans, family, and friends who have shown me their love and concern.

I promise to return soon.

Love, Minzy.

People are saying that it was a letter to fans, so it’s understandable that she completely omits 2NE1 members or YGE. Indeed, it’s possible that Minzy was just focused on the fans and it was a complete coincidence that she omitted almost everything related to her former company. But given that it is now a former company, that she mentioned 2NE1 but specifically only talked about the fans, and that she spent so long at YGE only to have her career stalled for stuff out of her control, it does seem like a conscious choice to not mention the 2NE1 members and YGE.

That said, I have doubts that there’s any conflict between the girls themselves, and it’s hard to blame Minzy for being salty towards the company and not wanting to live in a world where it exists at this point. After all, 50% of 0 is still 0 (or whatever), and that’s what Minzy’s been stuck with for a while, so at least Minzy can maybe make some money now.
