I guess Sulli eating/voicing a grilled eel is a thing people want to talk/get mad about?

Apparently Sulli filming an eel being grilled “alive” and animating its corpse counts as a major controversy in K-pop, as evidenced by the amount of angry netizens and people urging me to talk about it.

I had expressed a lack of care earlier…

…which only made people yell at me more to cover it.

But why? People are talking about it still being alive, but it’s been gutted and flayed and it’s quite dead. The movement is common and doesn’t indicate anything about being alive.

So if you dislike grilled dead animals for food, then I guess I understand. I just don’t care, honestly. I’m also skeptical how much people actually would care when coming from a food culture that does eat actual live intelligent animals.

As for the dubbing of the voice, I guess if you want to be disgusted over it, then that’s your prerogative as well. But people do that frequently with dead insects and fish as jokes and nobody cares (and admittedly neither do I), so I’m skeptical about the amount of people who actually seriously care and those who only care cause Sulli did it (partially cause they think the eel is alive).

So again, I didn’t find much to write or care about at the time.

But either way, I guess this will be a thing, so might as well put a post up and let people vent or whatever.

To bring up a bigger argument, all this feels a bit like arguing about people eating dogs and cats. Like I understand if you don’t like it, and I would personally never do it, but I can’t get too fucked about it cause I’ve eaten pigs before and many of the (Americans, let’s be honest) people mad about that have as well. Thus, I would feel like a hypocrite to get mad at different cuisines for doing it when it’s not objectively any worse.
