Iron, who has been on trial for assault allegations brought by his ex-girlfriend, has been found guilty. The court concluded that Iron beat his girlfriend because she refused to comply with him during sex, and then later assaulted her again later.
According to the Seoul Central Police, Iron beat his girlfriend because she wasn’t listening to him, causing fractures. Prosecutors said last September, while Iron and girlfriend ‘A’ were having sex, ‘A’ refused Iron’s demands. He beat her face with his fists in anger. About fifteen days afterward, ‘A’ decided to break up with Iron. He then choked and beat her, causing injuries and fracturing her left pinky. He then threatened her by stabbing himself with a kitchen tool and then telling her that if she called the police, he would tell them she stabbed him.
Amazingly, even though the court acknowledges heavy injuries for the girlfriend, Iron has been sentenced to probation and community service.
His sentencing trial was held on July 20, where he was sentenced with 2 years of probation and 80 hours of community service, with 8 months of prison time if probation is broken.
The judge of the case said, “The victim was injured heavily, and the accused even threatened the victim on not telling the truth.”
I don’t understand how one gets a harsher sentence for marijuana than assaulting a woman twice and then trying to keep her quiet by threatening her by injuring yourself. It’s absolutely bizarre. Plus, as I mentioned when this was initially brought up, the first assault sure sounds like it could be sexual assault, since it describes him beating her because she wouldn’t listen during sex. Given the murkiness of consent laws and all that, however, I understand why prosecutors decided to hone in on the assault aspect of it.
Also, the verdict makes it even more disgusting that the ex-gf was outed to the public and was shamed for her preferences in bed, even though it had nothing to do with the case at hand.
