[Updated] Korean & Japanese celebs show support for #BlackLivesMatter following murder of George Floyd + a call to contribute

The story that has captured the attention of at least one nation, if not the world, is the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police in the state of Minnesota, and if you haven’t followed the story, then I implore you to look into it.

It’s painful to watch and it should be. If you believe you can handle viewing the whole video, then I recommend that you do so as it leaves a lasting impression. Floyd’s murder has understandably resonated and has launched nationwide protests. It should be noted that while this killing was the catalyst for everything that’s happening, it’s more of a critical mass event in terms of injustice that has happened in this country since … well, it was founded.

Thankfully, among those speaking out in support of justice for George Floyd, the protests at large, and Black Lives Matter are many Korean and Japanese celebrities, with Jay Park, Dumbfoundead, Ted Park, CL, and Crush among those leading the charge.

Protested/Donated

Spoke About It

Showed Support

Note: The point of the categories is not to judge, but simply to organize for those who don’t want to go through each link. Some were protesting and donating, some had personal thoughts to share, and some amplified the voices of others and expressed solidarity. Everything is valid and helps.

Everybody is free to take their words or leave them, but I for one am glad to see it no matter what.

Speaking of all this, I want to take a moment to go a bit mask off. While you could probably figure out my politics from reading the site, I usually don’t directly mention it, but I’m rather done at the moment with all the bullshit I’ve been seeing.

Similarly, I usually keep donations private as I don’t believe attention whoring or whatever is appropriate if you’re truly doing it altruistically (as much as one can be). However, in this case, I do want to make contributions public so as to encourage others to help as well, and if the worst to come of that is having to suffer from assholes saying it’s for clout or whatever then fuck it, that’s nothing.

There are so many funds that you could support (ways to help can be found here), but here’s three worthy ones I’ve contributed to.

George Floyd Memorial Fund

Minnesota Freedom Fund

Unicorn Riot

I’ll probably be adding more to the list as this goes on, but for now I’d like to focus on those three.

Update

In addition to updating the list of celebrities, I have additionally donated to five other funds, and I would again ask you to consider helping as well. Thank you.

Justice For Breonna Taylor

Legacy

Healing Path Wellness Services

Gold Cash Inc. & King’s Jewelry

70+ Bail Funds & Other Organizations

Times are tough, I understand this, but I’ve always believed no amount is too small when it comes to donations. So if you are lucky enough to have any amount you can spare during this harrowing time, please also consider supporting.

Thank you.
