Quick Reviews: SONIC STONES gets aggressive but remains melodic on “THE BEGINNING OF THE END”

If nothing else, the SONIC STONES showcased a decent way to mash two kinds of songs into one, as “THE BEGINNING OF THE END” starts as like the acoustic version of 90s alt rock and then transitions into the hard rock version, with the vocals similarly invoking the deliveries of the era (sorta Billie Joe Armstrong?).

As alluded to, things start slowly, but the head-banging tempo is bolstered by a grimy rhythmic electric guitar for a solid foundation. Meanwhile, the intense guitar riff that appears shortly after the transition and in the post-chorus is a standout in itself, and for as aggressive as the chorus is, it’s a surprisingly easy listen due to the melodic and catchy refrain.
