KickFlip apologize for not dancing to TWICE’s “Cheer Up” properly or some stupid fandom shit

KickFlip, the new boy group from JYP Entertainment, debuted less than two weeks ago and are already having to make serious apologies on video. Fortunately, for sane people it’s not something anybody needs to give a single fuck about.

Basically, people were mad about their appearance on Idol Radio, where KickFlip tried to dance to TWICE‘s “Cheer Up” and were a bit awkward with not knowing all the choreography, basically.

I mean … I guess people were focusing on them laughing or something, thinking it was mocking? But if you watch the whole episode — and I went to go that to see if it was an outlier — they basically had the same happy-go-lucky attitude to everything. Hell, the one I would say that was essentially mocking in tone was for Park Jin Young‘s “I Have A Lover“.

lol

A tradition unlike any other.

So basically this seems like sort of a perfect storm in a way, even though psychosis is at the root of it all. TWICE are sunbaes in their company, “Cheer Up” was a national-level hit, there’s always boy group stans vs. girl group stans fighting, boy groups disrespecting girl group choreo has been a point of discourse, and, most importantly, fandoms are nuts when it comes to retweeting and dogpiling everything when anybody gives them a reason to play victim. The fact that it was ‘boy bad, girl good’ and that KickFlip were an easy target due to being new made it a no-brainer for most to jump in, and indeed, just going along with the crowd is easier than thinking.

You know, the funny thing is I was just discussing using another JYPE group how idols can’t have fun anymore due to overbearing fans analyzing every fucking singing and dance challenge as if they really give that much of a shit about skills in K-pop, and caring or pretending to care about shit like this is exactly what I mean. Fans themselves are making K-pop less fun, that’s the bottom line.
