MADEIN’s Suhye goes on hiatus for ‘personal reasons’, 143 Entertainment vague amid controversy

143 Entertainment is currently under fire for the alleged sexual harassment/assault and mistreatment of former MADEIN member Gaeun by the company CEO. And prior to her being removed from the group, she was put on hiatus, and now another (Korean) member in Suhye has been announced to be doing the same.

Due to personal reasons, Suhye has decided to take a break for the time being.
We kindly ask for your understanding as this decision was made so that she can return to her fans in a better condition.
Our company will do our utmost to support Suhye so that she can have enough time to rest comfortably. We ask for your warm encouragement so that Suhye can return brightly.

“Personal reasons”, apparently.

Look, you want to be careful around speculation when it comes to this kind of stuff in general, and especially when it involves these kinds of allegations and power dynamics, but after Gaeun’s case it’s hard not to wonder what this is about given the extremely vague reasoning.

The fact that Yeseo is the only active Korean member left, and that after their controversy they seem to be leaning hard on the Japanese fandom for support also isn’t lost on me and makes it even more concerning.

I guess I dunno, just something to be aware of, but another reason why letting this CEO continue to operate is madness, just inherently damaging to the group at minimum and potentially enabling predatory behavior further.
