In another use of AI that absolutely nobody needs or asked for AI chat app almigo has introduced K-pop idol characters thanks to collaboration with RBW. This includes artists like Youngji (KARA), Solar (MAMAMOO), Hyojung (Oh My Girl), and Jiana (YOUNG POSSE).
Basically the app allows users to have a convo with the stars through AI, which I think has been done before, but the catch here is if you pay then you can basically start sexting and doing video calls with them.

If you were thinking, “Wait, aren’t some of the idols under RBW minors or close to it?” Well yes, and that makes it even worse.
RBW invested in an ai site that includes chats with the young posse members (+ other RBW idols).

the vids are from debut era, where the girls were 13, 15, 17, 19, and 19. they also added Jiana onto the sexualized chatbox option, using her 17-year-old self as the selection. pic.twitter.com/U6G4mTkA8P
On the plus side, literally while I was in the middle of writing this up, the app’s social media and the RBW account deleted the post about it, so maybe the company is listening to the backlash.
Nevertheless, I think it’s another indicator that not only is AI not going away in K-pop circles, it’s expanding and K-pop companies will always be on the frontlines of trying to push it.
