It seems like every time I see an ongoing news item and I think to myself “well hopefully this doesn’t turn out to be that serious” it indeed ends up being serious in someway or another. The latest is the situation with Ju Haknyeon of THE BOYZ, who has now left the group and his company ONE HUNDRED.
Yesterday, it was announced by ONE HUNDRED that Haknyeon would be on hiatus for personal reasons.
On June 16, THE BOYZ’s agency ONE HUNDRED announced that Ju Haknyeon will be temporarily suspending his activities due to personal reasons.
The agency stated, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to THE B (THE BOYZ’s official fan club name) with this sudden news, and we ask for your kind understanding. We hope for your continued support and love for THE BOYZ.”
That caused confusion within the fandom as to the reason.
Subsequently it was revealed that he was being investigated by the company for allegedly meeting up with former Japanese pornstar Kirara Asuka.
According to an exclusive report from News1, who received the news from Shūkan Bunshun, Ju Haknyeon and his acquaintances met up with former Japanese AV actress Kirara Asuka at a bar in Roppongi, Tokyo on May 29, 2025. There, he drank with her throughout the night and was reported to have hugged her, and she was also reported to have been seen resting her chin on his shoulder.
Apparently the company confirmed with him.
We received an inquiry from Shūkan Bunshun and we have confirmed the details with Ju Haknyeon.
And so there was another announcement today by ONE HUNDRED that he has left the group and terminated his contract with the company.
As soon as we were informed of issues involving Ju Haknyeon’s private life, our company immediately suspended his activities and took time to thoroughly verify the facts.
As a result, we have come to recognize the seriousness of this issue and have clearly determined that it is no longer possible for us to maintain the trust in him as an artist. After sufficient discussions with the members of THE BOYZ, we have made the final decision for Ju Haknyeon to depart the team and to terminate his exclusive contract.
We ask for your deep understanding as this decision was an unavoidable measure to protect the members and the team. We would like to inform you that, as of today, Ju Haknyeon will cease all activities as a member of THE BOYZ.
ONE HUNDRED will do our utmost to support the remaining members of THE BOYZ so that they can continue their activities in a stable and healthy environment.
Right, so basically this is like an idol getting caught dating but amplified because she’s a public figure, and then amplified like 10 times because she’s a known “slut” (from the public and fan’s perspective), and thus it even further shatters whatever illusions fans could possibly have about him.
Assuming this is the whole story, reasonable people with no stakes in this are unlikely to give a shit about a famous celebrity meeting a former pornstar — even though I presume some international netizens will force themselves to try — and nobody except those deluded about their private lives and/or just want to use him to project upon could be surprised by this. Unfortunately, those types of people are the entire idol industry, and all that matters here is what the fans think and ONE HUNDRED is just getting ahead of things here by booting him, so it was basically the only move they could take at that point.
