2NE1 member Park Bom recently took to Instagram to revisit her Adderall controversy from 2014, which controversially didn’t result in charges after investigation. In the letter, she wrote that the Adderall was for her ADD and that she was framed to cover up Sandara Park‘s drug use.
“To the citizens of the nation… Hello. This is Park Bom. I am writing because I want to share the truth with you. Have you all been well? I am not sick and am working hard to live well. I’m about to talk about something sensitive and something frightening.
I’m being cautious in case it causes another uproar, but the medication known as Adderall, which is labeled as a psychotropic drug, weighs on my mind. I really didn’t want to bring it up again… I’m afraid that even mentioning it on the news again would be a shortcut to ruining my reputation. At that time, I felt like I was dying… but [now] I am gathering the courage to speak.”
“It is not a drug. I am an ADD patient, something called Attention Deficit Disorder. Sandara Park was caught for drug abuse, and to cover that up, they turned the medication into something labeled as a drug scandal involving me. At the time, there wasn’t even a specific medication system or law in this country regarding Adderall, but strangely, after Park Bom, a law was created.
To the citizens online, I sincerely ask that you please investigate the facts as they are. And lastly, what I truly want to say is this: YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy Park, and Lee Chaerin (CL), please do not report to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug that you yourselves have not used even once in 30 years. I am writing this because it feels like my soul is crying. Thank you for reading.”
The post has since been deleted.
It is worth noting, of course, that just four months ago her own company (D-Nation Entertainment) clarified an accusation on social media against YG Entertainment by explaining that she was emotionally unstable and that any talk of lawsuit was untrue. Similarly, she had another social media controversy last year where she claimed to be romantically involved with Lee Min Ho that the company also had to put down.
Not saying what Bom is claiming here can’t be true just because of her past/current mental state, but probably the most reasonable reaction to this is to hope Sandara Park is able to move past this and that Park Bom is able to get better.
Update
A source close to Bom has since stated they were previously unaware of her post and that it was mental health related, “We only just became aware of the content. As you know, this happened due to Park Bom’s unstable health condition. We ask for your understanding.“
Meanwhile, a source close to Sandara has called the drug claims “groundless” and that she’s currently “worried about Park Bom’s health”.
A day later, Sandara directly addressed the situation on her Instagram in a short but firm message: “I have never used drugs. I wish her well.“
