Imagine being in bed at 3 AM, a peaceful rain trickles down outside your window as you’re cuddled up comfortably under the covers on a cool and pleasant night. You’re not paying attention to the screen as you peacefully go through your YouTube Subscriptions with headphones on to listen for anything noteworthy. That’s when Ran‘s “Why Goodbye” hits your eardrums, and while you immediately recognize it’s another plodding breakup ballad, you wait a bit to see if it goes anywhere.
Finally, things do pick up a bit, and so you glance at the playing music video around a minute and six seconds in. Given the dulcet tones reverberating in your brain, you assume it’ll be some generic nature scenery, or perhaps even a portrait of love lost given the theme of the song. At the very least, surely what burns into your retinas won’t be something that’s gonna spike your adrenaline, especially because you in particular are a gigantic pussy for anything horror related.
Ah, no … no, how wrong you were. You idiot, you fool, you absolute buffoon. Because on this song of all songs, the music video has jump scares and gore splattered randomly within it. Unbeknownst to you, it’s a song on the OST of the horror/thriller film The Grace Of The Teacher, and it features scenes from the movie.
Previously, you were calm and contented, on the verge of drifting off into your peaceful dream world. Now, you’ve been jolted awake, the mood ruined, and it’ll be a few hours before you’re able to sleep, where you hope there won’t be a nightmare lurking.
Fuck me, fuck my life, and fuck whoever made this.
