Pann Choa’s latest user submitted content featured an attempt to cancel CRAVITY member Allen for making a silly “stepsister/stepbrother” meme … three months ago.
He took a selfie with a stepladder and captioned it, “Step ladder, what are you doing here?!”
I have a few takeaways from this:
- It brought attention to an idol actually giving me a sensible chuckle.
- I didn’t know people not in the West weren’t aware of how widely referenced this is.
- It’s also funnier because of the breathless Puritanical way it’s framed on the site.
Seriously though, they are trying to make it out like he’s endorsing incest.

Seeing him “joke” about the concept of stepsiblings having s*x was deeply uncomfortable. Allen is a 27-year-old grown man. He’s American, fluent in English and constantly references Internet culture. Let’s not be naive, he KNOWS what he was saying.

In a way, though, this is kinda useful for how Korean netizens react when language/memes from controversial sites seep into the mainstream and they try to cancel idols for it. Sort of equivalent to like how 4chan slang and language is used everywhere now, including by fandoms who try to cancel K-pop idols over using slang. It’s … something.
Anyway, you know an attempt like this is particularly bad when the TERF/SWERF Island over there are even like “Seriously, is this what we’re doing?”
