Nana & her mother fight off armed robber, who then countersued her for “attempted murder”, thus proving the power of shamelessness

Well, this story certainly qualifies as something wild that I missed during my hiatus, and it even comes with an even wilder recent update.

Actress (and former After School member) Nana and her mother were victims of a home invasion and attempted armed robbery back on November 15, but somehow her and her mother were able to subdue the assailant, a man in his 30s.

On November 15, the Guri Police Station announced that they had arrested a man in his thirties on charges of attempted armed robbery. The suspect has been accused of breaking into Nana’s home in Guri, threatening the occupants with a weapon, and demanding money.
Nana and her mother, who were inside the house at the time, reportedly managed to subdue the armed robber after a physical altercation, then immediately called the police. When the police arrived at the scene, the suspect was injured, and he is currently being treated at a hospital.

At the time, her agency SUBLIME said that neither Nana nor her mother were seriously injured, but in a follow-up statement they clarified that both were indeed suffering from the aftereffects of the attack.

As a result of the robber’s physical assault, Nana’s mother lost consciousness due to serious injury, and Nana also sustained physical injury while trying to escape danger.
At present, both [Nana and her mother] are in need of medical treatment and complete rest.

A week later, police provided details of the crime and stated that the assailant would be forwarded to prosecution on charges of aggravated robbery and assault, and that while Nana and her mother inflicted injuries on the assailant during the incident, they determined the pair did so in self-defense.

“A” is accused of having broken into Nana’s home with a weapon on November 15 at around 6 a.m. KST, threatening and injuring Nana and her mother, and demanding money. After using a ladder that he had brought to climb to the balcony, “A” entered the house through an unlocked door. When he found Nana’s mother inside, he reportedly strangled her and injured her.
Nana, who woke up after hearing her mother’s screams, attempted to stop the armed robber. A physical altercation ensued, and Nana and her mother ultimately managed to subdue the robber by grabbing his arm, after which they contacted the police.
During this fight, “A” suffered a laceration to his chin caused by the weapon that he had brought to Nana’s home.
The police have ruled that this injury was inflicted as a result of self-defense, explaining, “The victims suffered tangible harm, and our investigation found that they did not inflict serious injury while defending themselves.”
“Looking at the situation overall, we determined that the victims’ actions constituted self-defense, so no charges were filed [against them],” they continued.

Thankfully, Nana was able to resume activities on November 26, hopefully at least indicating that whatever injuries she suffered were not extreme.

Recently though, in a move of remarkable shamelessness, the assailant countersued Nana for injuries he suffered during the aforementioned self-defense, claiming what Nana did constituted attempted murder. In response, SUBLIME released a statement, stating that the lawsuit against Nana constituted secondary harm and that they would respond legally in every way they can.

In connection with the robbery-assault incident involving our artist Nana, a thorough investigation by the authorities has clearly confirmed the perpetrator’s criminal acts.
During the crime, the assailant—armed with a weapon—inflicted severe harm on Nana and her family, and the resulting physical and psychological pain continues to this day.
Nevertheless, without any sign of remorse, the perpetrator has filed a separate complaint against Nana, exploiting her public profile and causing secondary harm through inhumane conduct.
Protecting the rights and interests of our artists is our highest priority. In relation to this matter, we will pursue every possible civil and criminal legal action against the perpetrator.

Truly incredible in a way. Like you’re an armed man in your 30s who got the element of surprise on an unarmed elderly woman and her asleep daughter, yet you still managed to get disarmed and beaten up by them, and now you’re suing them for defending themselves against you.

The fact that police believe the assailant did not know a celebrity lived at the residence means he likely just thought he found a soft target for a robbery, then after he got thoroughly humiliated, he found out that they were rich and decided to try to rob them another way by going all-in with an American-style money-grab lawsuit.

Shamelessness is truly a superpower, man. You can just try whatever if you don’t have shame as a restraint.
