Shinhwa reveal they didn’t even get paid for their nude photobook ‘Wild’ + full scans for science

In my benevolent quest to provide everybody with certified #Content, it pleases me that there was somehow an update on Shinhwa‘s famous (infamous?) nude photobook Wild, which is really a story that will thankfully never die.

Anyway, members Minwoo and Andy were guests on the YouTube channel of Super Junior‘s Donghae and Eunhyuk, where the production team brought out a copy of Wild. A producer revealed they had to buy it on the secondary market, where it was selling in the range of $135-$200, which shocked everybody. But to me that honestly felt quite reasonable considering it’s like a historical treasure at this point.

Most relevantly, new lore even to me emerged when Donghae asked how many copies were made, and Minwoo explained they didn’t even get paid properly, “I don’t know the exact number, but there was an issue on the production side, so we didn’t even receive proper payment.” He went on to estimate, but said it was a limited run, “I think they only printed tens of thousands of copies at the time and didn’t produce more after that, which is why it’s probably a rare item now.

Just a generation later, the thought of any idol group (much less one of their stature) delivering full moons to fans in a photobook would seem insane, but anything seemed to go for the first generation.

And finally, while I do complete and thorough research myself to provide you all with only the best journalism with the highest standards, I will, of course, also provide the sources so you are able to decide for yourself on matters. Sources like this Flickr account with quality scans of the entire 123-page photobook for you to intensely study for science.
