Lovelyz’s “For You” is a throwback and the group is better for it

LovelyzForYou

Lovelyz finally released a song that made me care even a little bit in “For You“, and while it’s not groundbreaking or anything, at least it’s eminently listenable.

Lovelyz fans thought that just because I was skeptical as to whether Seo Ji Soo was really a secret serial killer, that I must have liked the group or something, but when they were greeted with my TRUTH TELLING regarding Lovelyz’s basic as fuck K-pop song existence, there was much mad over the black ocean-receiving queens.

But as mediocre as I found the rest of their discography, I really liked “For You” for avoiding the basic quasi-ballad tripe and going straight for the catchy, mid-tempo early-00s girl group jugular with a toe-tapping instrumental and a memorable hook that makes it listenable.

Scumbags non-writers like KPOPALYPSE and the rest of my staff will inevitably whine about it being like “Glass Bead” while NEVER WRITING SAID OPINIONS FOR A CERTAIN SITE, but that’s exactly why I liked it. I feel like the song is an upgraded version of “Glass Bead”, which compensates for the fact that the latter had a superior choreography that got G-Friend through.

The music video is whatever like the rest of them because they’re going down the recent A Pink road, but at least I can see myself putting this song on a playlist instead of forgetting about it by the end of the day.
