Back in February of 2021, former B.A.P member Himchan was sentenced to 10 months in prison for sexual assault, then months later he posted a vague apology for his actions and made an attempt on his life. Despite this, technically his side is still appealing the sentence he was given, and he recently admitted to the charges.
On April 12th, an appeal trial was held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on Himchan for the charges of sexual assault. On this day, Himchan responded directly to the judge’s question about his position, saying, “I acknowledge all charges,” withdrawing his previous position of denying all allegations.
He also handed in a letter of reflection because … sure, I guess.
Remember, this dates back to an incident that took place on September of 2018, so he’s had like 3.5 years to come clean about this if he was truly remorseful, but instead stuck to his guns and continued to make the victim wait for justice. Now after it seems like he has no out left, he’s admitting it basically only to get a lighter sentence, not unlike something out of the Seungri playbook. The truly fucked up thing about that cynical ploy is it’ll probably work.
