Since I’m late, I actually wasn’t going to post about the 2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon as it seemed like everybody and their mother had already talked about 2NE1‘s medley, but after actually browsing through the show I just had to.
Yes, 2NE1 are still touring and they made a stop on the way to perform a medley of “Come Back Home“, “Fire“, “I Don’t Care“, “UGLY“, and “I Am The Best“.
I mostly just had to say how much their energy stood out (especially CL) in a sea of mostly forgettable performances and holiday “remixes” from who are supposed to be the new vanguard of K-pop.

Arguably not many idols have had their “aura” age as gracefully as CL, since she now stands out even more among the newer gen K-pop idols than she did her contemporaries back then. And 2NE1 as a whole are performing circles around others, all while doing choreo with mics on. It’s not even an experience thing either, they were all mostly like this from the start, so there’s no excuse for the rest.
Realistically, this post is just basically me completing my grumpy man arc echoing the thoughts of mostly everybody else who watched the show, but I wanted to say it nonetheless.
