SBS survival show UNIVERSE LEAGUE has been beefing with fandoms (primarily VIXX‘s) over their mission song called “Prison” for a couple weeks now.
I didn’t really notice it a ton cause the “homage” seemed rather obvious, too much so to really deny, but apparently it’s still going on.

The similarities being cited are mostly between it and VIXX’s “ERROR“, though as mentioned, I hear some BEAST‘s “FICTION” and BIGBANG‘s “MONSTER” (H/T: The Bias List) as well.
VIXX fans are basically just arguing it goes beyond any kind of vague tribute, as even the choreo and concept elements are similar, asking the show and producers for acknowledgement, basically.

Gonna be honest, I don’t know if any of this is legally actionable or not, so I’m not gonna get into that. I will say it’s pretty clearly inspired by a bunch of older boy group songs, and “ERROR” in particular when you factor in the performance and styling aspects of it.
Well … I guess this is one way to bring back that older sound to K-pop at least?
Other than that, I just really wanted an excuse to post about the three songs in question.
