Dreamcatcher Company has announced that Dreamcatcher members Dami, Handong, and Gahyun will not be renewing their contracts that expire on March 31.
“Hello.
This is Dreamcatcher Company.
First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who love and support Dreamcatcher.
The exclusive contracts of our agency’s artists, Dreamcatcher members Handong, Dami, and Gahyeon, will expire as of March 31, 2025.
After long and in-depth discussions, Dreamcatcher Company, along with Handong, Dami, and Gahyeon, have decided to respect each other’s decision and mutually agreed to not renew their contracts. Although our formal relationship with them will come to an end, we have decided to continue working together for their activities as Dreamcatcher based on mutual affection and deep trust in the group.
We would like to express our gratitude to Handong, Dami, and Gahyeon for their dedication to all their activities at Dreamcatcher Company over the past eight years, and we sincerely support their future endeavors. We also want to thank all the fans who have continuously shown unwavering love by their side.
Additionally, this year, the company will actively support JiU, SuA, Siyeon, and Yoohyeon in their various activities. JiU, SuA, and Yoohyeon will engage in unit activities, while Siyeon will pursue band activities, showcasing new sides of themselves to fans. We kindly ask for your great interest, love, and support for the unit and band activities as well as the new journeys ahead for Handong, Dami, and Gahyeon.
Thank you.”
The statement seems to imply that the trio will still be a part of Dreamcatcher, though I’m always skeptical of how those things are able to work out when they’re in different companies and whether it’s actually true or just something to mollify fans. So despite me being a fan of this particular group, my view of this situation is no exception.
Additionally, it seems that JiU, SuA, and Yoohyeon will be doing activities together as UAU, and Siyeon will maybe be fronting a band called Thessyndome or something, which does seem exciting (this may be my fault).

Regardless, shortly after the announcement went out, the three members updated their social media with handwritten letters.

Hello, Somnyas, this is Dreamcatcher's Gahyun.
First of all, you must have been surprised to hear this news so suddenly, but I'm so grateful that I can be with you as Dreamcatcher. And since I think of it as a new start rather than a breakup with… pic.twitter.com/Ez0v8B1qpA

To all of you who have consistently supported and shown interest in Dreamcatcher…
Hello, this is Dreamcatcher Handong. As mentioned in the announcement, my contract with Dreamcatcher Company has officially expired. I have been thinking about… pic.twitter.com/8zgBg971fh
Dami’s is most assuring that she’s still in Dreamcatcher, Gahyun seems to allude to it, and Handong seems to put the group in the rear view a bit. While the activities of Dami and Handong are unknown, Gahyun says she wants to pursue acting.

While this obviously sucks, I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a huge surprise, though I did believe that maybe it’d come more at the end of this year or start of next year instead. Not getting another comeback or a proper goodbye before it likely ends is disappointing, obviously.
Anyway, I’m a bit of a doomer by nature, and yet it’s hard to be too upset about this considering where they started and how they’ve lasted this long, especially since they’ll hypothetically keep the group going and will apparently continue in entertainment. Obviously hoping for the best going forward, but even if not, it’s been a great run from a true nugu start.
