BLACKPINK’s Jisoo clarifies ties to brother Kim Jung Hoon amid his sexual assault, physical & emotional abuse, and blackmail accusations

Kim Jung Hoon, the brother of BLACKPINK member Jisoo, has been in the news recently for multiple alleged crimes, and that controversy has dragged Jisoo herself into it to the point where she had to address it publicly.

——

All of this initially started a few days ago when a female streamer came forward with allegations of sexual assault, and it was revealed that the alleged perpetrator was related to a famous girl group member. Soon after, news used a picture that made it quite obvious it was about Jisoo’s brother.

The streamer told the police that Mr. A had purchased a “dinner date voucher” worth around ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,030 USD) to have dinner with her. After the two had drinks together at a restaurant in Gangnam, the man took her home, promising that he would not initiate any sexual contact. However, Mr. A then attempted to sexually assault her.

Furthermore, it was revealed in the complaint against Kim Jung Hoon that the alleged victim believed he was involved in a blackmail attempt by a third-party to release illicit photos of the alleged victim to the public unless she dropped the sexual assault allegation. Kim Jung Hoon denied the charges.

Another disturbing factor is that this isn’t the first time he’s been accused of behavior like this, as back in May of last year, he was accused of secretly filming a woman during sex. He denied that as well, though I didn’t see anything further come of it.

Unfortunately, that’s really only the half of it, as Kim Jung Hoon’s wife then stepped forward and accused him of physical and emotional abuse. In the post, she provides pictures of the injuries she suffered as a result of his assaults, described him as extremely controlling over everything she does, and said he raped her.

He repeatedly demanded sex by force. He demanded sex more than twice a day. Even when I resisted and clearly did not want to, he forcibly removed my clothes and had sex with me. As a result, I repeatedly suffered from vaginitis and cystitis, and even after going to the hospital, I could not recover because the forced sex continued. He also forced me to have anal sex.

As the story spread and Jisoo began to get criticism (and her fans started complaining about that to the alleged victims), both accusers stepped forward to ask people not to attack Jisoo over it and focus on the brother.

Shortly after, Kim Jung Hoon’s wife posted an additional accusation that he was married once before, and that relationship ended in divorce due to his abuse as well. She also said people from an unnamed company came to her house and that she’s scared.

Now, aside from people using this horrific story of abuse for the purpose of fanwars and anti stuff, one reason people were calling on Jisoo to respond was due suspicion that her brother was actively involved in her company (BLISSOO) and/or that his company (BIOMOM) was involved with hers. A reasonable ask, as some fans likely didn’t want their money to directly benefit him in any way.

Moments ago, Jisoo’s legal representative issued a clarifying statement about the controversy. In it, they say that the events are unrelated to both Jisoo and her company, and that Jisoo has lived apart from her family since a young age and was not aware of his private life.

First, the matter currently being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO. Much of the information circulating online consists of unverified speculation or clearly false claims.
The artist began her trainee life at a young age and has lived independently for many years, apart from her family. As such, she is not in a position to be aware of or involved in the private matters of the individual in question.

They go on to address the rumors circulating about his ties to her company, clarify that the company is independently managed without connection to family, and directly deny rumors suggesting the company was jointly established or managed by her brother.

Additionally, during the preparatory stages of establishing BLISSOO, the artist did receive limited advice and assistance from family members in the form of relaying communications during discussions with relevant parties. However, at no point—then or now—have family members received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in any management or decision-making processes. Since then, the company has been operated entirely independently, without any involvement from family members.
In particular, claims circulating in some media outlets and online stating that “the individual co-founded the company with the artist” or that “the individual serves as part of BLISSOO’s management or as its CEO” are entirely false. We clearly state that the individual has no legal or managerial ties to BLISSOO.
Furthermore, neither BLISSOO nor the artist has provided any financial or legal support to the individual, nor do they have any plans to do so in the future. The artist also has no communication or involvement with the individual regarding this matter.

Obviously it’s likely still going to be a mess for her, and people will have their opinions on her side of things (and presumably look into it to make sure it checks out), but Jisoo coming out and essentially cutting ties with her brother in a public manner is about as well as she can do under the circumstances for the time being.
