Just a few days ago, the police requested an arrest warrant on charges of fraudulent and unfair trading for HYBE chairman Bang Si Hyuk after what felt like ages of investigation. However, prosecutors are denying that request, saying that detention is unnecessary.
“At this stage, there is insufficient evidence to justify the necessity of detention, and we have therefore requested a supplementary investigation,” the prosecution said.
Ironically, this is exactly what the police were fearing would happen months ago when people were making up conspiracy theories on what was taking so long, because it risks them losing authority on the case to the FSS.
The actual post they're quoting says the police are hesitant because if the initial arrest warrant is rejected, they would lose authority and could lose the case to the FSS, so they're being careful by covering their bases.

And so now, they go back to make a stronger case and see if they proceed with prosecution, file for another arrest, or drop it all together.
