OMEGA X & IPQ win damages against YouTuber for false tampering allegations, legal victories continue to pile up

All the way back in August of 2023, a YouTuber named In Ji Woong took the unenviable position of contrarian to OMEGA X’s abuse case against SPIRE Entertainment by claiming it was actually tampering, presumably because he was being fed info by the latter.

It was obvious even at that time that he just had an execs fist up his ass and was being puppeted, as somebody like him would do.

Well, shortly after he made those claims, IPQ took legal action. Four months later, the situation was made clearer when OMEGA X was granted a temporary injunction against him.

As if to prove why some don’t bother, the wheels of justice took over two years to reach its conclusion recently, and the courts ordered the YouTuber to pay three million won in damages to the OMEGA X members and five million won to IPQ for making defamatory videos and fabricating tampering allegations. A paltry sum (though I assume the legal costs he’ll have to pay are significant), but the money was never the point here.

Anyway, if you look back at the totality of the case, this has been about as a holistic of a legal victory as one can get for IPQ and OMEGA X. SPIRE and their cronies seemed determined to do their best TS Entertainment impression by harassing them with what are effectively SLAPP lawsuits at this point, but thankfully there’s been literally nothing to indicate the core result will change.
