People are mad at Lee Jong Suk for not boring us with a long-ass acceptance speech

Lee Jong Suk recently won the Daesang at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards, but he was promptly criticized for his speech. Was it because he said something controversial? No. Was it because he kept talking and talking while people tried to cut him off? No. It was because he kept the shit short.

Yes, his speech lasted about 40 seconds, during which he thanked people he worked with and fans, and then he was done. People were upset about this and called him rude and shit.

1. [+2,010, -212] Both him and Han Hyo Joo are so unlikable ㅋㅋㅋ the female lead buried her dongsaeng’s controversy while the male lead has attitude issues. 2016 MBC’s popularity daesang is an utter fail.
2. [+1,686, -132] Just saw the video, talk about inappropriate… if he’s a nominee, he should’ve at least prepared an award speech.. wow
3. [+1,466, -130] Farewell
4. [+141, -8] It’s hilarious to me that his fans are shielding him saying he has a phobia of getting attention ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ if he has such a phobia, how was he a runway model or an MC on music shows? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Does the phobia go away when he gets paid???? I don’t get it ㅋㅋㅋ
5. [+120, -9] Not even the most basic amount of respect was given. I will never watch any of this ba$tard’s dramas again.

What? They should be praising him. Any celebrity that isn’t about to give a Jim Valvano-esque speech and instead gives a speech that is like 30 seconds long and saves us all from hearing them drone on about shit that none of us will remember by the next hour is a goddamn blessing. The more celebrities that get their fucking award and get the fuck out of dodge the better. God willing, Lee Jong Suk will be a trailblazer.

Or not, as he released an explanation for his speech.

“I sincerely thank you. I think it’s the first time I was this nervous my whole life. I wasn’t able to thank every single person I am thankful toward, so I don’t think I expressed my thanks properly. I will live without forgetting my thankful heart. I will work hard to repay the weight of the award with a humble attitude! I am sincerely thankful. Happy New Year!”

Oh FFS.
